Projet esthétique virtuel et critères esthétiques du sourire : analyse comparative de différents logiciels

Abstract : Introduction: For optimal esthetic results, a systematic and complete dentofacial analysis must be performed. Recently, the advent of digital technology has made it possible to create digital smile design (DSD). A multitude of programs have been developed since 2012 and the dentist may find himself lost in the vastness of the offer. Objective: To compare software that allows the establishment of a DSD by evaluating their ability to exploit fundamental aesthetic criteria. Material and method: A selection of software was made from a literature review. For this purpose, the search motors used were PubMed and Dentistry Oral Sciences source. A total of 13 software packages were selected and divided into four groups (presentation software; tablet applications; specific software and CAO software). Finally, for each program, 22 fundamental aesthetic criteria were studied. Results: Significant differences were observed between the programs. Presentation software (Keynote and Adobe Photoshop) seems to use the most criteria while CAO software uses the least. In the other two groups, the EASY application and the Smile Designer Pro software seem to be detached in a favorable way. Discussion: This comparative study allowed to highlight the differences between the software in terms of aesthetic analysis. However, other factors must be taken into consideration such as usability, price, communication quality or the time spent using the software. All the parameters must guide the choice of the dental surgeon.
