Approche hypnotique lors de la première consultation chez l’enfant de 4 à 6 ans

Abstract : Today, dentist care is improved by new medical and technological advances, but also by the importance that the doctor gives to the patient's feelings and their relationship. Hypnosis is booming in medical world for his qualities of relaxation and analgesia. Cope with the stress and the pain meeting at the dentist’s office, it appear to be an ideal effective communication tool. That would be especially real for children aged 4 to 6 who are discovering this environment during the first consultations. Another factor encouraging the child is his ability to escape in imaginary worlds, because he increases his chances of receptivity to hypnosis which is defined as a modified state of consciousness obtained by suggestions. After a description of the hypnosis and main elements of psychomotor development of the children aged 4 to 6 years old, we will analyze its implementation through five clinical cases collected in a private pediatric dental office, then we will discuss in fine about the actual interest and efficiency of hypnosis in dental care.
