Évaluation de l’état des connaissances et priorisation des levés hydrographiques en vue de la mise à jour des cartes marines

Abstract : Updating nautical charts is essential to ensure the safety of navigation. Assessing the status of these charts is a complex task for national hydrographic services. This complexity is driven by the limited resources available to assess the changing nature of near-shore bathymetry in a simple and reliable way. This work uses a procedure developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to assess the adequacy and suitability of nautical charts with some kinds of data: Satellite Derived Bathymetry (SDB), vessel traffic data (AIS), bathymetric database... The method developed here was implemented in the context of the analysis of the hurricane Irma’s consequences on the island of Saint-Martin and aims to be integrated into a decision support tool.
