Les corruptions photographiques : Moires et DSL d'Éric Rondepierre

Abstract : The corruption of a picture is a singular phenomenon. On this point, the contemporary photographer Éric Rondepierre has dealt with it. Interested by the picture's essence in cinematography (silver or digital), he observed how this one was subject to deterioration leading by contingency and corruption effects. But it appears that the degeneration of silver or digital picture brings some new aesthetic and poetic dynamics to representations. In order to notice it, he developed several photographical series. Among them, we have taken Moires et DSL series on. First one is the result of "shots-again" ("reprises de vues") of some old corroded pictures from film rolls. Second one is screenshots from downloaded video on DSL which had broadcasting incidents during the viewing. Built on three chapters, this study analyses the organic characteristic of pictures, and the silver and digital process, in order to consider how photograph's interstitial approach (Photography / Cinema) participate to the Detail's notion (Daniel Arasse).
