Les implants en zircone, une réelle alternative aux implants en titane ?

Abstract : Zirconia, for years, has sparked a keen interest in dentistry. it is a highly resistant biomaterial with very attractive aesthetic and biological qualities. In addition, today we are dealing with patients who are increasingly demanding "metal-free" restorations and aesthetic expectations are growing. This leads us to focus on zirconia as a biomaterial for implantology, particularly for the implant itself.
Despite the many indications of zirconia, this material is feared by some practitioners in implantology for fear of fracture.The aim of this thesis is to determine whether zirconia implants are a real alternative to titanium implants by first making a reminder of what zirconia biomaterial is and its physical and mechanical properties. In a second time will be discussed the biocompatibility, the qualities of osseointegration and integration mucosa without forgetting to talk about the aesthetic results. A final part will illustrate the surgical phases of zirconia implant placement through the iconography of a clinical case.
This project makes it possible to realize that zirconia can be used in implantology, and that the indications which, for the moment, appear restricted will evolve with the industrial engineering deployed to improve the already correct mechanical and physical properties of these. this. These improvements will allow to take full advantage of the remarkable aesthetic properties and exceptional biocompatibility of zirconia.
