Évaluation de l’anxiété induite par les affiches de prévention exposées en salle d’attente au sein d’un cabinet de médecine générale situé à Argentan : étude quantitative descriptive observationnelle via un auto-questionnaire

Abstract : Background: Health promotion is one of the missions of the general practitioner, many realize it through the display of prevention posters in the waiting room. However, their impact remains limited. We wanted to determine through our study if this mean of prevention could generate anxiety and explain, in part, this lack of impact. Methods: We conducted a descriptive quantitative observational study via an anonymous self-administered questionnaire in a medical office located in the town of Argentan, in Basse-Normandie. This self-administered questionnaire was distributed to volunteer patients over the age of 15 and was proposed from July 2, 2018 to August 23, 2018. The questionnaire asked the patient about the anxiety generated by the prevention posters in the waiting room, their opinions concerning the prevention media, the follow-up of the health recommendations displayed by this means, as well as the search for additional information via other sources and the discussion of these messages with the entourage. Results: Of the 123 patients whose questionnaire was analyzed, 101 people, namely 81,2%, said they did not feel anxious after reading the posters in the waiting room, and therefore 22 patients, namely 17,9% said the opposite. In addition, there was no significant relationship between anxiety generated by posters and whether to follow health recommendations or not. Conclusions: Health prevention posters located in general practice do not generate anxiety and there is no established link between this anxiety and the follow-up or not of health recommendations.
