Établissement d’un protocole innovant de collage indirect des attaches orthodontiques assisté par ordinateur : revue de la littérature

Abstract : The indirect bonding of orthodontic brackets is experiencing a revolution thanks to the development of digital technology. However, the current protocols do not allow the orthodontist to be completely autonomous for the implementation steps of the transfer systems. The dental impression, the positioning of the brackets and the realization of transfer trays could be done by CAD / CAM only by the orthodontist. We have conducted a review of the literature in order to highlight the different protocols for indirect vestibular bonding using CAD / CAM, thus 4 articles caught our attention and allowed us to retain two protocols which were tested on the same patient by dissociating the maxillary and the mandible. The first protocol is about doing a 3D printed molding with repositioning notches on which, a soft transfer tray and a rigid one are thermoformed; and in the second protocol the transfer tray is directly printed by a 3D printer. We obtained better results with the first protocol (longer bonding time with the 3D printed gutter which fragmented into multiple pieces, some of them remained stuck in interdental spaces). This study shows that “all digital”seems to be a very interesting alternative but it is necessary to improve the quality of the printing resin to avoid these technical problems
