« Lectures pour tous » : parcours littéraires en bibliothèque. Un projet pour les élèves ou une vitrine pour l’institution ? Les enjeux d’un dispositif d’incitation à la lecture au collège

Abstract : Reading at school has been of great interest and raised animated debates in government policies over the last three decades. Tackling low literacy while shaping citizens in schools placed reading in the heart of major political discussions about education. The time has come to repair and restore the love of reading in young generations who are currently being caught up in new technologies (occupations?) and cultural practices. There have been an increasing number of strategies aimed at encouraging adolescents to read, especially to instill a love of reading and motivate independent reading. This is the mission presented by the project “Reading for all”, that was launched in September 2018 with a goal to cultivate lifetime reading habits in schools. The initiative was built in partnerships between secondary schools (including both lower and upper schools) and libraries. The monitoring of this recent initiative has highlighted both pedagogical and political challenges between the different institutions involved, and revealed how students benefit from the creative activities implemented by the collaboration of all stakeholders.
