Étude historique et patrimonialisation de la Sicile arabe (IX-XIIe siècles)

Abstract : The narration of the Arab geographers, ceramics and coins are the main sources available to the historians to study Arabic Sicily. The current historiography is interested in socio-religious community and the hypothetical urban organization of Palermo. The monuments of Arab-Norman style are the witnesses of the coexistence of different cultures – such as the Arab culture - during the Norman domination from the 11th to the 12th centuries and giving birth to this art. Moreover, this past Arab-Norman is not represented in the museums in Sicily and the UNESCO site “Palermo Arab-Normand” seems to be the only one to pay tribute to this past.
