État des lieux des pratiques professionnelles et des besoins des orthophonistes français concernant l’évaluation et la remédiation de la Négligence Spatiale Unilatérale (NSU)

Abstract : 85% of patients with a right hemisphere injury show signs of USN, in 36% of cases it will be moderate to severe USN. Its impact on many activities of daily living is important and sustainable and the USN represents a pejorative factor of functional recovery. For optimal care, the proposed rehabilitation must be multidisciplinary including speech therapy. There are no formal guidelines yet to guide speech therapists in the remediation of patients with USN. It seemed interesting to establish an inventory of the professional practices and needs of speech therapists concerning the USN. The online questionnaire created showed that the majority of speech therapists have knowledge about USN but the semiology and available remediation practices are only partially known. Moreover, speech therapists feel limited in the rehabilitation of these patients and require more information regarding this disorder, its evaluation and the specific remedial material available. It also seems interesting to open this research to practical and clinical perspectives in speech therapy; particularly with the development of an information tool in the context of continuous training.
