La collaboration entre médecins généralistes et orthoptistes dans le dépistage des troubles visuels de l'enfant de moins de 6 ans : état des lieux, obstacles et pistes d'amélioration

Abstract : Background: Screening for children’s visual disorders remains insufficient in France. Objectives: To explore collaborative practices between general practitioners (GP) and orthoptists in the screening of visual disorders in children under 6 years of age, encountered difficulties and opportunities for improvement. Methods: A qualitative study carried out by semi-structured interviews with 12 GP and 12 orthoptists, transcription then thematic analysis. Results: The participants considered collaboration to be essential but it was not well developed in practice. The lack of knowledge and recognition of each other's skills seemed to be an obstacle. The caregivers wanted more collaboration amongst themselves. Conclusion: It seems necessary to reorganize the visual sector and develop a genuine culture of collaboration.
