Atteinte carieuse des premières molaires permanentes chez les enfants scolarisés à Oradour-sur-Glane en 2019

Abstract : Tooth decay is a major public health problem worldwide. Screening was carried out at the primary school in Oradour-sur-Glane ; our goal was to describe the prevalence and extent of caries in the first permanent molars and oral hygiene, in 2019. Before the intervention, a questionnaire was given to parents in order to collect the variables of interest on habits, knowledge and representations related to oral health. The OHIS and CAO indices reported for 6-year-old teeth were used during screening. We have obtained the following results: 65.4% of the children had an OHIS less than or equal to 0.66. 92% of the teeth observed were healthy, and 87% of the children had no cavities. Out of 37 decayed teeth, only two straight first permanent molars mandibular were filled. No child presented preventive care such as furrow seals. It seems that today's children have better oral hygiene and are less affected by tooth decay, than in 1985, we can think that the MT’Dents program had a favorable impact. However, the absence of preventive measures, such as the sealing of train paths, shows that efforts are still awaited.
