Évaluation de la qualité globale et sexuelle durant la première année d'hormonothérapie chez les patientes atteintes d'un cancer du sein

Abstract : Introduction: breast cancer requires in 70% of cases prolonged hormone therapy, which can impair the quality of sexual life, which is rarely discussed in consultation. Materials and Method: this prospective, observational, and bicentric study included women with localized breast cancer treated with hormone therapy for 6 months maximum or to initiate it within the next 3 months. The QLQ C30, QLQ BR23, SHQ C22 questionnaires were subject at the inclusion, at 6 and 12 months. The main endpoint was a 5 points in crease in the "sexual activity" dimension of the BR23 questionnaire at 12 months, the secondary criteria were the overall and sexual quality of life assessed by the three questionnaires, at the inclusion, 6 and 12 months. Results: 103 patients were included from May to October 2018, the 80 who completed the questionnaires at inclusion and at 12 months were analyzed. The activity, satisfaction, and sexual pleasure dimensions averaged 29.8, 45 and 50/100 (DS 27.1, 25.0 and 32.0). At 12 months, 30% met the prim ary endpoint, vaginal dryness and the importance of sex life had increased significantly while communication with professionals remained low. Discussion: initially, sex quality scores were low, then vaginal symptoms worsened while communication remained low. Addressing sexual dysfunction combines information, medical and psychological means. Conclusion: early and multidisciplinary management of sexual disorders could improve patients' quality of life, adherence to treatment, and combines prognosis and quality of life.
