L'inclusion des mineurs non accompagnés en établissement scolaire

Abstract : Immigration is a global phenomenon that has always existed. In Europe, it intensified in the end of the 20th century as a result of the acceleration of migratory flows due to wealth gaps between countries. People have many different reasons to leave their home countries in search of better economic, political and social conditions. Today, young people leave theirs in hope to find a better life quality on the French territory. There are minors arriving without their parents or legal guardians. They are reffered to as unaccompanied minors. Unaccompanied minors migration poses then the issue of determining what reception arrangements on French territory could be made for them. These young people are confronted with many difficulties as they are submitted to two different systems that could be contradictory: immigration and child protection. Moreover, unaccompanied minors face several other challenges such as dealing with temporality that determines their future, integrating into a foreign country, building up their personal identity without family values and adapting to a new school system. Between social instability and compulsory education, how far can the French school system go to deal with the inclusion and personal development of unaccompanied minors ? Our goal is to understand the challenges that including and hosting unaccompanied minors represent for the education system by comparing theory to reality on the ground.
