Sécurisation du circuit des opioïdes au CHU de Rennes

Abstract : Recognized as High Alert Medications at the University Hospital of Rennes, opioids have been subject to an end to end audit of the drug circuit in order to secure all process steps and reduce the risk of errors. Whilst generally respecting the recommendations in place, some flaws were identified in the prescription, administration and monitoring stages, which lead to some improvement measures being implemented. These include the creation of a pre-populated opioid prescription module within the software, a simplified monitoring module, as well as a considering the removal of PSE in favour of PCA in all medical units, except Palliative Care and resuscitation. A strong focus of the working group is also placed on training and raising awareness with the caregivers. The measures put in place will have to be evaluated during a next audit in order to estimate the impact of the newly implemented measures by the medical and paramedical teams.
