Intérêt d'une rééducation sémantique incluant des cognats pour pallier l'anomie chez des personnes aphasiques bilingues chroniques : étude cas-témoin d'une patiente franco-portugaise

Abstract : Bilingual people with aphasia may present word-retrieval difficulties prevalent in each of their languages. The bilingual lexical system is organised in two separate phonological lexicons and a shared area responsible for the semantic representations. Cognates are words sharing phonological and semantic forms, they are supposed to lie in this area. The aim of our study is to identify whether a semantic protocol including cognates can benefit bilingual people with aphasia. A ten-session protocol inspired by the Semantic Feature Analysis (SFA) has been initiated with a French-Portuguese patient. Results lack significance yet the trend we found shows improvement in trained items. Future alterations are needed: add a follow-up measure, increase total population by adding a control group and, at last, try to recruit patients with additive bilingualism.
