Développement et faisabilité d’un test de dessin de mémoire chez des patients suspectés de présenter un trouble sémantique

Abstract : Semantic memory represents the knowledge about the world and concepts. It is altered in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Semantic Variant of Primary Progressive Aphasia (APPvs). Evaluation of semantic knowledge in non-verbal production is not possible using current available tests. For that reason, a drawing test has been developed. Following a phase devoted to the selection of relevant items, the test was then proposed to a healthy and homogeneous population. We continued the development of this test by evaluating its feasibility with patients suspected of having a semantic disorder. Ten patients with neurodegenerative disorders (gathering AD, APPvs and frontotemporal lobar degeneration) and 10 healthy subjects were included. The results showed the good feasibility of the drawing test in patients with a semantic disorder and significantly lower scores in these patients compared to others. This study also allowed us to identify the manifestations of the semantic deficit during a memory drawing test. Moreover, the results seem to be correlated with the Pyramids and Palms Trees Test. The evaluation of patients with a semantic memory disorder using that drawing test requires further analyses in order to bring more validity and fidelity before any clinical application.
