État des lieux de l'accompagnement à la reprise de la conduite automobile chez les cérébrolésés dans les Alpes Maritimes

Abstract : In France, there are nearly 300,000 victims of non-evolving brain injuries per year, responsible for the alteration of sensory, sensorimotor and cognitive-behavioural functions. All of these deficiencies must be identified in order to assess their impact on driving ability and consider adaptations. Indeed, the resumption of driving is a precondition for reintegration into socio-professional activity. It is essential for daily autonomy. The evaluation of the resumption of driving is governed by laws and recommendations whose priority is the promotion of driving rehabilitation and social reintegration without neglecting the safety of the patient and other road users.
Thus we have studied how cerebrolysed patients are accompanied in their process of revalidation of their driving licence in the Maritime Alps. This thesis work is a collection of the methods of evaluation of the doctors approved by the prefecture and the means of expertise available in the department. There are 4 places of driving evaluation in the Maritime Alps equipped according to the recommendations of the learned societies. The evaluation methods are not standardised, which is the cause of a disparity in procedures.
The study of doctors approved by the prefecture revealed a low participation rate as well as a great diversity of practices. This leads to major disparities in the way in which the assessment is handled when driving is resumed, depending on the doctor approved by the prefecture consulted or the centre to which the patient is referred. It must be noted that very few cerebrolysed patients are reassessed in the context of revalidation of driving ability.
In this context, we propose the implementation of means, in line with the recommendations for good practice of the learned societies approved by the HAS, to raise awareness, inform and guide patients and doctors involved in the care of cerebrolysed patients.
