Lutte contre les Tephritidae par l'utilisation de champignons entomopathogènes dans les sols

Abstract : Fruit flies (Tephritidae) are major pests of fruit and vegetable crops. Damage is caused by the larvae that develop inside the fruit. Today, the control of these pests is mainly based on insecticide treatments targeting the adults, the only accessible stage. Soil treatment with a strain of an entomopathogenic fungi of the genus Beauveria has been used in Reunion island for more than 30 years to control the larvae of a sugarcane chafer. This strategy could also be considered to control Tephritidae by targeting the telluric stages. The objective of this internship is to develop a laboratory system for assessing the pathogenicity of different registered Beauveria strains, to compare the pathogenicity of these strains on several Tephritidae species, and to demonstrate the proof of concept for the control of their telluric stages.
