Arborer la ville : assurer une place plus durable aux arbres pour répondre aux enjeux sociaux et climatiques actuels

Abstract : The climate change is a global phenomenon with local consequences. Cities are particularly sensitive to climate perturbations because of their population density, soil impermeability and human activity concentration. Revegetation of the cities, especially with trees, is a way to counter urban constraints and improve the situation. Aware of the vulnerabilities of its territory, including urban heat island, atmospheric pollution, water and topsoil supply, the city of Grenoble wants to maintain and develop its tree patrimony while respecting sustainable development. This work constitutes a basis for reflection to implement this strategy. The aim is to define a cartographic tool to highlight tree-related issues and prioritize areas. In addition, after a diagnosis of the current practices in the planting process, from planning to design stages and to the end of the reinforcement period, ideas for improvement will be developed according to the sustainable development. Topics discussed cover soil-stone mix, rainwater management, adaptation of the plant range, recovery assessment and optimization of regulatory tools.
