Les espaces ouverts urbains : outil d'identification et de caractérisation de la nature en ville

Abstract : The city of the 19th century is constantly changing, and we are facing several observations: the ever greater expansion of the peri-urban area, the exponential fall in biodiversity as well as the growing desire of citizens for more nature in the city. It therefore comes down to asking whether these two major objectives announced for our century, namely to densify urban areas and increase biodiversity, are not contradictory? To do this, we will set up a tool to identify and then characterize urban open spaces according to uses and ecosystem services. Indeed, following a GIS analysis which allows us to identify potential urban open spaces, we will go into the field to characterize this nature in the city. Then, we can make a synthetic map of nature in the city with the different urban open spaces. The urban, which we think to be an austere place stripped of nature, shows that it is possible to set up continuities, whether landscape or ecological.
