Évaluation des aptitudes phonologiques chez un adolescent avec déficience intellectuelle légère

Abstract : Developmental Speech Sound Disorder (SSD) can take various forms, and presents a certain comorbidity with other disorders affecting language and reading. In this work, we apply a test for SSD – elaborated within the EULALIES research project – to a teenager with mild intellectual disability. Two additional tasks evaluate phonological awareness and reading. The test, though initially designed for a younger age range (3-11 years), shows clinical interest by revealing a pattern of strengths and weaknesses in this adolescent’s phonological abilities. We emphasize that clinical research ought to include more children and teenagers with idiopathic intellectual disability. Indeed, not only do clinicians lack data regarding this population, but studying individuals with ID has particular potential to enrich our knowledge about the links between phonology, language and cognition.
