Évaluation de la place actuelle de l'HyFoSy à La Réunion et des obstacles à sa diffusion afin d’améliorer le parcours des couples consultant pour infertilité

Abstract : Background : Tubal patency assessment currently recommended are invasive and painful. The HyFoSy is an ultrasound imaging technique available since 2014, which is a reliable alternative with improved safety and tolerance. Its use in the infertility assessment could reduce drop outs linked to the complexity of the care pathway. However, its diffusion still seems to be limited. Our study was interested in defining: What is the place of ultrasound tube exploration in Reunion Island? What are the obstacles to its diffusion for health professionals likely to perform infertility couples assessment? Method : This was an epidemiological, observational, cross-sectional, prospective study in the department of Reunion Island. A computerised questionnaire was sent to a group of 1100 general practitioners, gynaecologists, radiologists and midwives. Results : 70 health professionals answered the survey. 69% (N= 47) of the participants prescribed infertility assessment. Among them, 28% prescribed an ultrasonic imaging to explore tubal patency. 10% of the participants(N=70) performed ultrasound tubal explorations. 54% of the participants did not prescribe ultrasound tubal exploration. The main causes found were in 50% of cases the lack of knowledge of this examination and in 18% of cases the lack of correspondent. Conclusion : Current practices in Réunion still leave a marginal place for ultrasound in the evaluation of tubal patency. The obstacles observed make it possible to put forward lines of thought in order to improve its dissemination in Reunion Island.
