Évaluation des pratiques professionnelles, concernant la délivrance des conseils de prévention de la mort subite du nourrisson à la sortie de la maternité

Abstract : Objectives: To evaluate professional practices concerning the quality and exhaustiveness of the advice given to parents for the prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The study focuses on advice given to parents when they leave a 2A type clinic from September to December 2019. Method: It is a cross-disciplinary, descriptive and monocentric study. The data collection took place in a maternity ward by direct observation of midwives during the exit interviews. Results: Regarding the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome prevention advice, the safe newborn sleeping instructions were correctly delivered by the midwives. However, the reasons for emergency consultation given to parents were incomplete.. The quality of the interviews was assessed according to three criteria: the father was present, the interview wasn’t interrupted and a print medium was delivered. Conclusion: The complete dissemination of advice for the prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is the main area of improvement. Therefore, a booklet was proposed in order to give all the advice to parents before returning home.
