L’opinion du médecin généraliste sur le dossier médical partagé : une étude qualitative en Haute Savoie

Abstract : Introduction: After several unsuccessful launch attempts, the electronic health record is once again on track and in the hands of the Health Insurance. General practitioners rarely used it. The purpose of this study was to collect and gather their opinions. Materials and methods: Inductive qualitative study with thematic analysis carried out with general practitioners in Haute-Savoie. Data collection carried out during semi-structured individual interviews and focus groups via an interview guide. Results: Seven semi-structured interviews and two focus groups were led out with 21 general practitioners between May 2019 and June 2020. The lack of use of the electronic health record was partly justified by inadequate ergonomics and a time-consuming increase of the supports needed. Mistrust remained about the protection of medical confidentiality, due to the risk of hacking computer data and use for non-medical purposes by private organizations. Furthermore, the participating general practitioners saw little benefit from this tool in their day-to-day practice, most of them lacked of training. Centralizing and sharing patient medical data between healthcare professionals could avoid loss of information and redundancy of additional examinations. Conclusion: The general practitioner considers the electronic health record as a promising digital health tool, however many limitations restrain its use. The emergence of certain platforms such as Health Data Hub would foil the wheels of clinical research, but data security remains crucial and must be supervised in order to respect medical confidentiality.
