Information et prescription de la contraception par les sages-femmes en suites de couches au Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble Alpes (CHUGA)

Abstract : Objectives: The main objective was to assess the conformity of information and prescription of contraception given to patients by midwives with HAS and CNGOF recommendations. Material and Methods: It’s an observational, descriptive prospective transversal and monocentric clinical audit. This study is based on 33 directs observations of midwives in maternity. Major Criteria were defined and had to be filled to define conformity. Results: No observations met all of the major criteria. This study highlighted some strengths in midwifery practice. But also a lack of knowledge about the physiology and pharmacology of post-partum contraception. No explanatory support was used. Conclusion: Maternity stay is not the best period to talk about contraception, information should be given in antenatal. It would be necessary to train midwives regularly on the latest recommendations, to put in place explanatory aids and standard prescriptions. It would be interesting to re-evaluate professional practices three to six months after these changes.
