Intérêt des supplémentations orales par vitaminothérapie et micronutriments dans la thérapeutique parodontale. Revue de la littérature

Abstract : The objective of this study was to assess the value of oral vitamin therapy and micronutrient supplementation in periodontal therapy in addition to conventional periodontal treatment. We carried out a systematic review of scientific literature. From 2749 articles, 11 were selected for our review: 3 on vitamin D and calcium, 3 on antioxidants and combination of different nutrients, and 5 on Omega 3 PUFA. Vitamin D and calcium associated with SRP would have beneficial effects on periodontal parameters recorded in patients with moderate to severe periodontitis. Combination of multiple antioxidants with SRP would improve BOP, AL, PD except in smokers. Vitamin C alone with SRP would have no effect ont periodontal parameters. Omega 3 if associated with aspirin and SRP would have a positive effect on BOP, AL, PD, GI but 1 study contradicts these results. The development of these adjunctive therapies could lead to the emplementation of new specific protocols for periodontal health, which requires more quality clinical research.
