Prévalence et facteurs de risque des infections sexuellement transmissibles à gonoccoque la Réunion : une étude transversale

Abstract : Objective: Identifie prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STI) due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Ng), risk factors in Reunion Island and the associated antibiotic resistance. Methods: Data were collected from all patients who consulted the island's screening center between January 2017 and December 2018, using a standardized self-administered questionnaire and a multiplex PCR on biological samples. Results: General population global prevalence of Ng (N = 4289) was 2.8% (95% CI [2.3-3.3]). Minors were particulary affected (4.4%, 95% CI [2.6-7]). The main risk factors identified in all locations were : under 18 years a age (p = 0.03), precariousness (p = 0.002), history of STIs (p = 0.006). All strains were sensitive to ceftriaxone. Conclusion: Ng prevalence infections remain high in Réunion as in the rest of the world. Minors are more exposed and thus this population should be specifically targeted to help prevent infections and gain greater access access to screening in academic institutions.
