Ankylose des dents antérieures maxillaires : apport de l’Orthodontic Bone Stretching (OBS) : revue systématique de la littérature

Abstract : Tooth ankylosis, which is the disappearance of physiological tooth mobility, has been a pathology that preoccupies dentists and orthodontists for years. In the anterior part of maxillary arch, this damage is most often secondary to a trauma, that affects irreversibly the ligamentary structures of the tooth and causing his disappearance. The resulting infraclusion of ankylosis tooth is the consequence of the alveolar vertical growth of the adjacent teeth causing an aesthetic and functional deficit even in the adult patient. Considering the limited therapeutic arsenal, the Orthodontic Bone Stretching (OBS) is an orthodontic-surgicaly protocol, which allows the traction of the dento-osseous unit formed by the ankylosed tooth and its surrounding bone. Based on the corticotomy used for orthodontic accelerated movements, this protocol is interesting for its easy implementation, predictable results and limited adverse effects. We performed a systematic review of the literature, whose main objective is to study the surgical and orthodontic stages of displacement of the ankylosed teeth accompanied by corticotomies. The review allowed us to highlight a clear and predictable clinical protocol for the dental surgeon and the orthodontist. The study is divided into 3 clinical stages: pre, per and post surgical. The secondary objective is to assess the possibilities and limits of the protocol.
