L’enseignement culturel en langue vivante étrangère au cycle 2 : les effets de la correspondance scolaire

Abstract : Nowadays, cultural education in primary school through English teaching is recognized. But, it still remains to be defined. In order to provide an effective cultural teaching in a school context, I elaborate it through a correspondence with a Scottish class. This correspondence was developed through project-based teaching and action-oriented approaches in order to provide a more authentic and meaningful cultural education for CE2 pupils. The data from this study were collected through questionnaires, student observation, and the comparison of an experimental class with à control class. This allowed to assess the positive effects of school correspondence on the motivation and performance of pupils in English teaching. Therefore, we can conclude that more authentic and meaningful cultural education has positive effects on pupils’ motivation, and also on their cultural and linguistic performance.
