Développer l’empathie et les comportements altruistes chez l’enfant avec la littérature jeunesse

Abstract : Through this experimentation, we wanted to show how children’s book can build for children a better understanding of their feelings, of other’s, and consequently lay the groundwork for altruistic and empathic behaviors. With a subjective approach, four children’s books have been exploited and led to discussion which enabled children to express their feelings and think about other’s. This work follows on from works which emphasized the importance of improving empathy and altruistic values at school. It also confirms that exploiting children’s book can help self-consciousness along. More the child can express his emotional state, more he is able to understand the emotional states of others, and therefore to adopt altruistic and empathic behaviors.
