L'échographie comme outil d’amélioration des pratiques en médecine générale : à propos du diagnostic de pneumopathie

Abstract : As a major mainstay of the new ultrasound movement built on handheld ultrasound devices, lung ultrasonography a quick, non-irradiating, and accurate exam for the pneumonia diagnosis in comparison with others methods. To assess the feasibility of the lung ultrasonography and its contribution in general practice, we performed an interventional multi-center study named "AMBULUS". Results showed that lung ultrasonography is fast enough to be used in general practice with a 4 minutes duration, and it can also significantly increase diagnostic accuracy by 28% for patients meeting inclusion criteria. While demonstrating feasibility of lung ultrasonography in ambulatory, "AMBULUS" highlights that POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasonography) could be a game-changer in general practice by enhancing diagnosis accuracy, and helping the practitioner to design appropriate prescription.
