État de santé physique et mental des internes Antilles-Guyane

Abstract : Introduction : Medical staff’s bad health, in particular residents, is a well known public health concern in France. No datas described French West Indies and Guyane’s residents health. The first goal of this work was then to do so. Secondary we wanted to study possible risk factor of bad health. Material and method : Observational cross sectional study on all French West Indies and Guyane residents. Datas were collected using an on line questionnaire from the begining of september to middle october 2017. Chi-2 test and Fisher’s exact test were used to our statistical analysis on Stata 12.0 software. Results : 262 answers have been analyzed. Since the begining of the residency, 12,2% (n=32/262) of residents had suicidal ideations, 16% (n=42/262) declared depression and 71,4% (n=185/259) felt one of the 3 symptoms of Burn Out. 28,2% (n=74/262) were smocking, 84% (n=220/262) drinked alcohol regularly and 45% (n=119/262) used drugs at least once. Self medical care is poor with only 37% (n=97/262) of them followed by a general practitionner. About work conditions : 69,8% (n=183/262) of residents worked more than 48 hours per week and post shift rest was not respected for 7,0% (n=18/258) of them. Finaly 26,0% (n=68/262) declared themselves in average or bad global health. Several risk factors for global bad health were found : sleep trouble, pain, anxiety, and social isolation. Conclusion : residents working in France West Indies and Guyane have a worrying health. It is urgent to create measures to prevent, detect and take care of troubles induced by working conditions.
