Revue de la littérature internationale : élaboration d'une liste de critères qualité de l'information médicale en ligne pouvant aider à la prise de décision en médecine générale

Abstract : Background : The primary source of information for general practioners during daily practice is the internet, especially the usage of medical decision support sites. Currently, no quality score of online medical information is validated in France. The main objective of our study is to search for quality criteria for online medical information in the international literature.
Method : We conducted a systematic review of the literature according to the recommendations of the PRISMA group by querying the PubMed database up to December 2018. The inclusion criteria included articles dealing with online medical information. The exclusion criteria included articles exclusively intended for the general public and publications that were not research articles. The criteria cited in these articles were collected and analysed.
Results : 98 articles were included and we found 61 quality scoring systems. We identified 48 criteria divided into 9 main categories which are Funding, sponsors, declaration of conflict of interest (n= 55) ; Publication date of the site (n= 23) ; Context of the tool (n= 90) ; Doctor-patient relationship (n= 34) ; Content of the tool (n= 95) ; Expert committee, editorial committee (n= 31) ; Treatment (n= 20) ; Patient data (n= 45) and System (n= 74).
Conclusion : The increasing use of medical decision support systems in daily practice requires a proper evaluation of these tools, in order to guide the practionner’s choice based on quality criteria. The creation of a health information quality label of these tools could meet this need.
