Édition et écologies : champs et récits. Enquête sur les stratégies éditoriales

Abstract : The ecological and environmental question has recently aroused the interest of the profession of books and beyond: round tables have multiplied, special issues of journals have appeared, and book institutions have also taken up the issue. "Eco-responsibility", carbon report, "green" books of the various editorial trends, new publishing houses that position themselves as a reference on this very subject, and new literary prizes that try to legitimate these issues, publishers are refining their policies. This survey aims to reveal different editorial strategies implemented by publishers through the prism of ecology and the environment as perceived today and as formulated in the speeches we have collected. It is a question of putting into perspective the stories they have developed about what we can call the "ecological and environmental theme", putting these behaviours into context and better understanding each other's positions in relation to each other. In this survey we have tried to report these dynamics. There does not seem to be a standard model, a "green book", but more a configuration of the editorial field that is articulated in relation to this theme on two axes. This configuration, which is based on two "editorial regimes": a logic of production without publishers, institutional and centralized, which "neutralizes" this theme; and, on the other hand, a logic driven by publishers, who hybridise production. However, as we have seen, these two dynamics are not antagonistic, they can even coexist with the same publisher, within the same catalogue.
