Promouvoir la santé des personnes en situation de prostitution

Abstract : The prostitution landscape has undergone major changes in recent years, with the development of prostitution that is less visible and less accessible to harm reduction and health promotion activities. Precariousness, stigmatisation and high exposure to violence are all factors that aggravate inequalities in terms of access to rights and care. This qualitative study enabled the needs of people who prostitute themselves on the street and via the internet to be collected through interviews and also through observation within the association La Case (Bordeaux) and to highlight the difficulties encountered by professionals in their work. It shows that there are many obstacles to access to rights and care, potentially leading to social inequalities in health. The work carried out has led to the emergence of recommendations aimed at promoting the health of prostitutes in a comprehensive approach that takes into account the realities on the ground of professionals, the data in the literature and also the proposals of prostitutes themselves. They are based in particular on the development of empowerment, better access to information, the training of professionals and the involvement of all stakeholders (health professionals, local partners, elected representatives).
