Gastrologic : création et évaluation d’un site internet d’aide à la prise en charge des pathologies œso-gastro-duodénales destiné aux médecins généralistes

Abstract : Background: Upper gastrointestinal tract disorders are frequent reasons of consultation in general practice. However, discrepancies between the current guidelines and the practice of primary care physicians have been observed in this area. Studies have shown that clinical decision support systems (CDSS) can improve the quality and safety of health care. In this context, the main objective of this work was to create GASTROLOGIC, an online tool aimed at helping with the management of upper gastrointestinal diseases, relevant, reliable, interactive, independent, free and useful for general practitioners.
Methods: We created GASTROLOGIC while respecting strict specifications, bringing together the main quality criteria of a health website and the criteria identified as success factors for CDSS. Our website was then evaluated through a usability pilot study. Thirty-seven general practitioners responded to a questionnaire containing the System Usability Scale (SUS).
Results: The website's overall SUS score was 88.6/100, corresponding to excellent usability. All of the practitioners interviewed either "strongly agreed" (n=25) or "somewhat agreed" (n=12) that GASTROLOGIC could be useful to general physicians in their practice. Almost nine in ten physicians thought they would use GASTROLOGIC frequently.
Conclusion: Our study revealed a high level of satisfaction with the usability, content and design of the website. GASTROLOGIC is a unique CDSS in the field of upper gastrointestinal pathologies, meeting the needs and expectations of general practitioners. It could thus become a lever for improving practices.
