Activité physique et grossesse : étude observationnelle transversale des connaissances des patientes et des professionnels de santé

Abstract : Introduction: physical activity during pregnancy provides many benefits for both mother and fetus. Compliance with the recommendations in force is necessary. Physical activity during pregnancy requires sufficient information. The objective is to assess the information transmitted by perinatal care providers as well as their knowledge on the subject, then to identify the information received by patients.
Material and method: we carried out a cross-sectional observational study divided into two axes, carried out from July 1st to October 31st 2019 in the maternity ward of the Nice University Hospital with women who have just given and perinatal professionals of the Alpes-Maritimes department.
Results: a total of 304 patients and 105 professionals were included. During pregnancy, 68% of patients who practiced physical activity received information on this subject compared to only 15% in patients who were inactive (p <0.0001). Among professionals, 95% said they advised minimum physical activity while 68% of patients had not receive information on this topic (p <0.0001). Professionals were a source of information in only 50% of cases. The main source of information was family and friends. Patients who practiced physical activity during pregnancy benefited from one or more sources of information in 56% of cases compared to 12% in inactive patients (p <0.0001). Professionals have not been trained in physical activity during pregnancy, 92% of them. However, most of them were aware of the benefits and risks of physical activity despite insufficient training.
Conclusion: physical exercise is a key way to fight sedentary lifestyles. Information encourages physical activity during pregnancy, especially since there are many sources of information. The information delivered is underpinned by the training of the various actors perinatality, which is essential to target the support in complete safety.
