Effets du yoga sur les troubles musculo-squelettiques et le stress chez le chirurgien-dentiste: revue systématique de la littérature

Abstract : Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and stress associated with the practice of dentistry have been studied for many years. They have a negative impact on the dentists’ work and health conditions. Yoga has long been recognized for its physical and psychological benefits. The aim of this work is to determine, through data from the current literature, the impact of yoga in the management of stress and MSDs among dentists. A search of the PubMed and Scopus databases, supplemented by a personal search, made it possible to select 9 articles matching the inclusion criteria. Despite an overall low level of scientific evidence, it appears that yoga has a general benefit for the dentists in term of physical and psychological health, and professional and personal well-being. Yoga seems to be an inexpensive and easy solution to implement in their daily practice.
