État bucco-dentaire, déglutition et dénutrition chez la personne âgée de 75 ans et plus: une enquête épidémiologique

Abstract : More than a quarter of the population is aged 65 and over. However, the prevalence of many pathologies increases with aging. The medical care of elderly patients must take into account all existing pathologies. We are interested in the link, which may exist between oral pathologies, dysphagia and undernutrition (three main variables). The general health and oral health were generally altered. A majority of patients were undernourished and over a quarter had diagnosed dysphagia. At the end of this study, a relationship seems to exist between oral yeast infection, xerostomia, oral pain, complete edentulousness, dysphagia and undernutrition. This comparison work made it possible to target more precise variables, which could be effectively associated with each other. Thus, they could be used in an in-depth research work.
