Quels films pour transmettre quelle(s) histoire(s) cinématographique(s) et culturelle(s) aux apprenants de FLE ?

Abstract : This research explores the advantages and the challenges of the didactics of cinema in the context of teaching French as a foreign language, by questioning in particular the challenges of the constitution of a cinematographic corpus which would allow the transmission of truthful representations of cinema and French culture. This case study, conducted with an audience of Croatian adults as part of the cinema workshop in Zagreb, aims to examine the representations of cinema and French culture that learners acquire through films. The study is based on action research including the analysis of various data (written productions, course recordings, questionnaire, learners' cinema journal). It pays particular attention to the social context of the learners in the interpretation of the data, namely to the cultural and university circle, which emerges in this study as the origin of certain stereotypes about France. The study also shows that the contextualization of films and the interactions highlighting the relativity of filmic interpretations contribute to the development of learners’ critical thinking.
