Information et prescription de la contraception par les sages-femmes en fonction de la situation de précarité des patientes en suites de couches au Centre Hospitalier Annecy Genevois

Abstract : Objectives: The primary objective was to determine whether the information given and the contraception prescribed by midwives in the postpartum period complied with the recommendations of the HAS and the CNGOF. The secondary objective was to identify whether there is a difference in the information and prescription of contraception according to patient's precariousness. Methods: A single-center, prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive observational study to evaluate professional practices. This study has been made with 54 observations of midwives in the CHANGE maternity from 11 September to 31 December 2020. A compliance score out of 25 was established to qualify the compliance of the observations. The precariousness of patients was determined by the EPICES score. Results: Half of the midwives has obtained a score between 14 and 18 out of 25. Explanations of the ovulation physiology and the contraception chosen may be improved. The more precarious the woman's situation, the less appropriate the information given about contraception seems to be. The subcutaneous implant is prescribed more often to women in precarious situations. Conclusion: Improving the training and operating conditions of midwives would allow for better quality of information on contraception. It would lead to better adherence and would reduce unwanted postpartum pregnancies.
