Autoprescription médicamenteuse chez les médecins généralistes libéraux ornais : état des lieux des pratiques et facteurs d’influence

Abstract : Self-prescription medication is defined by the fact to make with one of its own prescription a medical prescription at its name. This work is the result of a quantitative, observational and interdisciplinary study, realized with the private generalist doctors in Orne. The data collection has been done by the sending of a declarative questionaire in the Summer 2020. The aim of that study is to set up an inventory of self-prescription medication practices and to study the influencing factors. On the 196 interviewed doctors, 85 questionaires have been analysed in the study (response rate of 43%). For a majority, the interviewed doctors have started this practice before to sit their thesis (65%). They favor this attitude in acute context even if they are aware of the risks it involves. Selfprescription medication is significantly associated to the superior age of 40 years old (p< 0,05) and to the existence of an of a medical history of chronic disease (p< 0,05). However, it is not associated either the sex, either the exercise mode, nor to the existence of an attending doctor declared third. Self-prescription medication appears like a first resort therapeutic solution for a lot of the interviewed doctors, who justify this practice especially for its accessibility and its simplicity, even if they are, for main of them, aware of the limits of this practice. They legitimate self-prescription medication because they consider it as logical for themselves. Selfprescription medication in chronic pathology context is for the moment not very studied and seems to be a track to study in detail because of the public health issue it represents.
