Prévalence et facteurs de risque d’hyperprolactinémie au sein d’une cohorte de patients atteints de schizophrénie du Centre Expert de Clermont-Ferrand

Abstract : Introduction: HyperPRL is a frequent and sometimes serious side effect of antipsychotic treatments, particularly in women, with a prevalence of between 42% and 66% depending on the studies. Objective: To determine the prevalence of hyperPRL in a French cohort of patients with schizophrenia and to study the factors associated with the risk of hyperPRL in this population. Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study using a cohort of patients with schizophrenia recruited from the Schizophrenia Expert Center of Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital. All patients were included consecutively from 2014 to 2019 and received a serum prolactin (PRL) test during their first visit. We extracted the variables of interest for our study from the FACE-SZ (FondaMendal Academic Centers of Expertise for Schizophrenia) database and compared the characteristics of patients with and without hyperPRL. Results: A total of 109 patients were retrospectively included in our analysis. The prevalence of hyperPRL in our cohort was 43.12% for the general population, 62.50% for women and 37.65% for men. Conclusion: Our study confirms the presence of a significant prevalence of hyperPRL as well as the place of AP2G in their significant difference between the groups of patients with and without hyperPRL. A larger study could confirm the high figures concerning the prevalence of hyperPRL in the populations of patients suffering from schizophrenia in France.
