Musique et langage : en quoi l'utilisation du rythme permet-elle de développer les compétences phonologiques de la langue anglaise chez les élèves de cycle 1 ?

Abstract : One, two, buckle my shoe! And if thanks to this rhythmic sentence the phonological awareness of English was possible among young french learners. Several authors agreed that early learning of a modern foreign language is a good thing. From the sensory level to the cognitive level, children have great abilities that fade over time. Indeed, the native language is anchored in our brain and becomes the reference of our understanding and our language production in the oral. Up to 12 years, cognitive and sensory abilities allow to pupils to perceive and acquire new sounds more easily than an adult. Songs and nursery rhymes are very interesting tools to work the phonological aspects of English implicitly. Indeed, music and language are treated in a similar way by a human. Dominant in music as in English, rhythm opens the doors of an integrated teaching of the two disciplines. Which language and musical skills are developed during rhythmic exercises? Would kindergarten be conducive to the acquisition of the oral language of a foreign living language? During this research work, I tried to answer all these questions and demonstrate the benefits of learning english early through music. An experiment was carried out with the aim of proving how the use of rhythm makes it possible to develop the phonological skills of the English language among kindergarten pupils.
