BIOCLIC : outil d’aide à la prescription d’analyses biologiques destiné aux médecins généralistes

Abstract : Introduction: biological analyzes have a predominant place in general medicine. Some analysis are superfluous and avoidable because not recommended on the situation. BIOCLIC website offers general practitioners a free tool to help prescribe biological analysis, easy to use and reliable, usable in consultation, concerning the most frequently encountered situations. Methods: we have designed BIOCLIC taking into account the quality criteria of medical decision support tools. We have created flowcharts for several clinical situations based on scientific recommendations. Then, we transposed them to a website to be used for consultation. Finally, we tested the tool's usability by general practitioners, using the System Usability Scale (SUS). Results: the usability pilot study was performed using a sample of general practitioners testers on a beta version of the website. Users were satisfied with the usability, relevance and design of the website. The SUS score was 81.7 / 100. Discussion: BIOCLIC is currently the only website for prescribing laboratory tests for general practitioners. It offers 23 situations frequently encountered in general medicine. A scientific committee made up of biologists and general practitioners was set up to proofread the content, in order to provide reliable and quality informations. Following our usability study, we identified a need for general practitioners to be helped with more rare and complex situations. BIOCLIC is therefore a scalable tool, and also allow an exchange with biologists via the platform. Conclusion: the use of BIOCLIC may improve the practice of general practitioners in prescribing biological analyzes.
