Conception et expérimentation d’une application smartphone d’aide à la codétermination d’objectifs de rééducation par l’enfant et le thérapeute. Optimiser la spécificité de la rééducation, et améliorer la motivation de l’enfant grâce à une application

Abstract : To set specific, measurable, attractive, realistic, timed (SMART) goals in collaboration between child and therapist, and to motivate the child are both decisive for rehabilitation outcome in pediatrics. The aim of this study was to create a digital tool to support the child and the therapist during this process, and to prove its usability and usefulness. Method : the creation of Kid’EM application was followed by the conception of the corresponding technology model acceptance, which enabled to build a quantitative survey and a frame for semi-directed interviews. Then, 7 therapists tested Kid’EM with 1 to 5 children of diverse profiles. Users expressed their feedbacks during individual interviews and by answering the survey. Results : 5 of 7 therapists perceived the application Kid’EM useful for rehabilitation, and easy to use. It addressed their jobrelated needs, and was usable with 5 to 10 years old children with every kind of impairment. It helped therapists to know the child quicker, to choose and create SMART rehabilitation goals, and to see the child’s progress. Nevertheless, the collaborative goal setting step was not enough suitable to children, and the goals’ quality was not always optimum. Conclusion : Kid’EM is relevant to collaborative goal setting in pediatric rehabilitation, but should be improved, to fit better with the therapists and children’s needs. Using systematically this kind of tool could eventually have an effect on clinical practice by improving rehabilitation goals’ quality.
