La qualité de vie des personnes âgées dépendantes lors des interventions en ergothérapie dans le cadre d’un maintien à domicile

Abstract : Introduction: The population is ageing and the number of dependent elderly people is increasing. Despite their dependence, the elderly wish to age in their home but it can have an impact on their quality of life. Occupational therapists contribute to home based care. The purpose of this study was to determine how occupational therapists can improve the quality of life of the dependent elderly living at home. Methods: The study was based on a qualitative method and used semi-structured interviews. Seven occupational therapists who practiced in the homes of the dependent elderly people were interviewed. Results: The results showed that the quality of life was perceived and assessed through interviews or observations. Occupational therapist intervened at home in order to maintain the autonomy of the elderly during their activities* by adapting their human and material environment. Conclusion: The support of the person is global and it promotes home support in a secure environment. Occupational therapy allows people to age at home appropriately and seems to have an effect on the quality of life of the dependent elderly. To deepen this research, it seems interesting to ask the elderly about the perception of their quality of life.
