Efficacité et sécurité de la pilocarpine dans la sécheresse buccale : revue de littérature

Abstract : Pilocarpine is one of the most prescribed treatments in the management of xerostomia. This may be linked to a systemic autoimmune syndrome called Gougerot Sjogren’s syndrome, to head and neck irradiation in cancer patients, to drug treatment or to age. The interest of this work is to take stock of the effectiveness of pilocarpine and its safety for these categories of patients. The first point deals with the method of administration of pilocarpine (indication, dosage, galenic form) as well as the criteria for evaluating efficacy by the patient or a third party. The second point deals with the toxicity of pilocarpine and the adverse effects reported to date by patients regarding this treatment.
