Sport, société et identités en Irlande du Nord (1921-1998)
Abstract
This dissertation studies social and political issues that agitated Northern Ireland during the 1921-1998 period. It approaches the constitutional question, the Civil Rights Movement and the modern ‘Troubles’. The originality of this dissertation is its combined use of sport, sociological and historical studies. The emphasis is put on three main sport associations: the GAA, the IFA and the IRFU. The historical and social issues studied in this dissertation are approached through sport associations so as to complete and put into perspective the study of the parliamentary activity.
